Chagall in Seoul until March 27
The Seoul Museum of Art is currently hosting a Chagall exhibit that takes up two floors of wall space. There until March 27 you should take a gander if you haven’t yet. Personally I didn’t know much about Chagall going into the visit. I had seen some of his early works and thought a ticket for W12,000 was worth it for me to check out some more. I found his later work really clicked...

The 63 Building: 63/100 from me
I guess since the 63 building is in every tourist guide there is when looking up Seoul attractions I expected more. Located on Yeoido Island this golden building shoots up 60 floors making it the tallest building in Korea, currently. Busan will have a taller building in the future, but right now, this one is taking the lead. Also, if you assumed this building was 63 floors as the name would...

Rebuilt Anytime Anywhere: Platoon Kunsthalle
A few of my friends have “liked” Platoon Kunsthalle on their facebook pages and so events that they hold have been popping up on my page recently. I decided to head to Sinsa to find Platoon yesterday and see what this place is all about as the events run from free movie showcases on Tuesdays, to small art exhibits to dj parties. How can all this happen in one venue I wondered. ...

Cats... cafes... I don't really see the appeal
There’s a new CAT CAFE in town! Okay, that wasn’t to sound as excited as it looked with that exclamation point. Emphasis mostly. I like cats. I like my cat. I like my cat in my house on my lap when I’m drinking my coffee. I’m not really a fan of these cat lover cafes around Seoul as I don’t know who these cats really belong to, how they’re treated, or...

The House of Sharing and the atrocities they...
Though I’ve heard about the Korean comfort women many times since coming to Korea almost five years ago I hadn’t heard about this organization set up to try and get their message out to a wider international population yet. A friend said she was headed to visit some of the comfort women since she’ll be headed back to her mother land soon and I tagged along for a day filled...

Seodaemun Prison and English translations at their...
Having been at my new school situation for about 5 months now I still had yet to notice the historical prison situated in a park just across the street. When a group of my friends said this was on their list of things to see in their first year I found it slightly humorous as in the past four years this had yet to make it on my list. But, with it so close I couldn’t talk myself out of...

Leeum Samsung Museum of Art
Out Hangangjin Station exit 1 signs lead you down the road a 100 meters to turn and then go another 150 meters up a slight incline to the front of a dynamic and different building full of art. They have a permanent traditional Korean art exhibition as well as a permanent contemporary and modern art exhibit. If you need a moment of quiet reflective time away from the bustling of Seoul I suggest...
